Overview
Substances hazardous to health are a relatively uncommon cause of workplace injuries, but the results of injuries which do occur can be relatively major or long term. The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) is the third highest enforcement notice served by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Principles of COSHH is aimed at those who use substances hazardous to health at work, and introduces students to the hazards associated with those substances and control measures that they can use. It is recommended that delegates hold the CIEH Level 2 Award in Health and Safety before attending the Principles of COSHH course, but this is not essential.
