This is a Self-paced course, with 5 days of Instructor assisted Labs. The course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills to work with Network Infrastructure and Active Directory technologies in Windows Server 2008.

Course Objectives:
This is a Self-paced course, with 5 days of Instructor assisted Labs. The course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills to work with Network Infrastructure and Active Directory technologies in Windows Server 2008.
Delegates will be supplied with Microsoft Self-Paced training books containing lessons, exam tips, practice tests and hands-on exercises to be performed on Windows 2008 servers running as Virtual Machines. Delegates should study the course materials at home, and choose 5 days from the available dates on which to attend the Instructor-assisted labs. On these days, a qualified instructor will be available to assist with Labs, explain course material and provide additional knowledge and expertise.
This course is intended for individuals who already have experience of those technologies in Windows Server 2000 or Windows Server 2003 and wish to upgrade their skills to Windows Server 2008.
This course also prepares the delegate for Microsoft exam 070-648 – Upgrading Your MCSA on Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008, Technology Specialist (Networking & Active Directory.)
Before attending this course, students must have:
- Experience of planning, implementing, managing, maintaining and securing Microsoft Windows Server 2000 or 2003, including Active Directory and Network Infrastructure server roles
- Working knowledge of networking, for example TCP/IP and Domain Name System (DNS)
- Experience of installing, configuring and administering Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional or Microsoft Vista
- An MCSA on Windows Server 2003 or MCSE on Windows Server 2003 is recommended ‘
Course Content:
- Install and configure Windows Server 2008
- Add and configure Windows Server Core roles
- Explain the new backup infrastructure, including Volume Shadow Copy Service
- Identify new and improved networking features with Windows Server 2008
- Configure Hyper-V virtual machines
- Identify considerations when upgrading from a Windows Server 2003 to a Windows Server 2008 Active Directory infrastructure
- Install and configure Active Directory Federation Services, Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services and Active Directory Rights Management Services
- Use Read-Only Domain Controllers
- Identify new features in Active Directory auditing
- Implementing Active Directory Auditing
- Configure Windows Server 2008 Failover Clustering
- Configure Windows Server 2008 Network Load Balancing
