Background
Pringle PCS Dev Team have been working with closely Renault Lutterworth Parts Distribution Depot since 2001 to develop and maintain warehouse systems. The after sales department for parts is based at the Lutterworth site and have used a PCS Dev Team system to process parts claims prior to extracting the data into the Sage Line 50 mainframe.
Problem
Prior to the development the Renualt team were tasked with collecting faxed claims. These were keyed straight into the PCS Dev Team claim database. The result of this process was double input of information. Often this resulted in inaccurate data being keyed and mistakes being made. The fax system also resulted in it being difficult to enforce the terms and conditions of parts returns.
Solution
The PCS Dev Team have had a number of successes with web development and were commissioned by Renault to produce an online portal for dealerships to enter part claims. The web application needed to be simple to use and police the claim process ensuring terms and conditions were met.
The application utilises web services to get daily runs of the shipments from the Renault Mainframe. These allow the application to validate the claim against the date the part was picked. This removed the issue of the mistakes being made by manual claim entry.
The application was also developed to allow the claims to pass seamlessy back to the PCS Dev Team database at the Lutterworth site so no keying was needed.
Current Status
The application now processes claims for every Dealership in the country that uses Renault Parts. This has reduced Costs for Renault and added to a greater after sales experience for their customers.
