Case Study: Wimbledon Roof

Fairfield Control Systems, back in 2005 set out on a 4 year project to automate the new Wimbledon Centre Court Roof. The system had to control 10 trusses, each weighing 100 tonnes and 77m long, running on two parallel tracks. The 8 minute operation (controlled to a 0.1mm resolution) required a solution to process and monitor 4000 I/O readings every second.

Fairfield Control Systems used PCS to assist their own development team on how to manage and control such a large volume of data.

PCS arranged a number of workshops, where our development team were able to guide Fairfield Control Systems on how the structure of the SQL database should be designed.
